Ima valjasto ali ovalno obliko z odprtino na enem koncu, ki omogo\u010da prehod \u017ei\u010dne vrvi. Drugi konec naprstnika je obi\u010dajno zaprt in predstavlja varno to\u010dko pritrditve.<\/p>\n<p>Osnovni namen naprstnika je prepre\u010diti po\u0161kodbe \u017ei\u010dne vrvi zaradi neposrednega stika s priklju\u010dki ali fitingi. Ko se na \u017ei\u010dni vrvi oblikuje zanka, se vstavi naprstnik, ki podpira in \u0161\u010diti vrv pred obrabo in deformacijo, zlasti pri velikih obremenitvah ali ponavljajo\u010dih se gibih. Pomaga enakomerno porazdeliti obremenitev po vrvi in zmanj\u0161uje koncentracije napetosti, kar podalj\u0161uje \u017eivljenjsko dobo \u017ei\u010dne vrvi.<\/p>\n<p>Naro\u010dniki imajo klju\u010dno vlogo tudi pri ohranjanju celovitosti vrvnih obes in sklopov. Z vgradnjo naprstnika v oko zanke \u017ei\u010dne vrvi se prepre\u010di, da bi se zanka zme\u010dkala ali stisnila pri uporabi s kavlji, okovi ali drugimi dvi\u017enimi priklju\u010dki.
